It's Time To Plan Your Holiday Sales

It's October and YES it is time to plan your Holiday sales to target US shoppers.
*Special announcement at the end of this post.
If you are living in the United States then you know all too well that the Winter Holiday decor is already filling the department stores and the BIG Black Friday sales of yesteryear have now turned into crazed shoppers on Thanksgiving Eve and it continues on for weeks.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which now blur together during the biggest shopping season of the year accounts for a large percentage of large retailer's annual sales.
Big retailers have big money and fancy ad campaigns and it can be a very intimidating time of year to try and capitalize on all the Holiday spending.
So what are you going to do about it?
Don't bury your head in the sand, though it might seem easier. Small businesses can take steps to maximize their season too.
First, the US Winter Holiday shopping season is really November through the end of December, but some customers will start shopping for gifts in October and others will still be in the shopping mood in early January.
You can start advertising or dropping hints to your customers to start Holiday shopping early. Get their attention now before they are even thinking of it or are bombarded by the big retailer's ad campaigns.
In your ads, social media posts, or newsletters you can promote a certain product or type of product with captions like:
"Great gift, sure to be loved."
"One for them and one for you."
"A gift for them, and a gift for you."
"At this price grab two."
"Holiday must have."
"Great gift for that hard to buy for person on your list."
"Such a unique gift. They will love it."
Run ads now to find potential future customers that you can re-target with future Holiday sales promotions. Collect email or newsletter sign ups now (and really all year) to use as a direct sales list for your promotions.
Create blog posts like "Great Gift Ideas" to drive traffic to product pages and social media posts to drive people to your blog.
Running Sales & Pricing
You have set your own product prices. One hopes you have accounted for a good profit margin that allows you to offer discounts and sales and still make a good profit. Depending upon your sales platform (i.e. your own website or sites like Amazon) running a sales special may utilize sales pricing, where people will see the regular price and the sale price next to it. Or you can use coupons where you offer your customers a coupon code that they can use on certain products or anything in their cart.
You can maximize your offers further by utilizing a countdown timer for sales prices to create the sense of urgency or software that requires an action like sharing or following you on social media to gain access to your coupon code. Sometimes simply sharing your blog post that contains the special or coupon code in your social media and newsletter list is enough and the simplest method, but you can experiment to see what works best for you.
